Topic: "Endovascular: Beginning of the Future?"

Jan Brunkwall is currently Professor and Chairman of the Department of Vascular Surgery at the University Clinic in Cologne, Germany. He studied medicine at Lund University in Sweden where he earned his Medical Degree in 1980 followed by his PhD in 1990. He was a visiting research fellow in the Conrad Jobst Vascular Research Laboratory, Section of Vascular Surgery here at the University of Michigan from 1986-87. Dr. Brunkwall has been presented with numerous awards and held many prestigious roles such Past President of the European Society for Vascular surgery and the Word Federation of Vascular Societies.

As an internationally recognized vascular surgeon, he is the author of more than 160 articles and chapters on a wide spectrum of vascular diseases. Dr. Brunkwall is a member of 12 professional societies and is regularly invited to speak at major vascular surgery meetings around the world. He is a member of the editoral boards of the Journal of Endovascular Therapy and Journal of Cardio-vascular Surgery.

Importantly, he has been a friend to a number of the vascular surgeons here at the University of Michigan for many years.
