biography

Dr. Rectenwald is an Assistant Professor of Surgery within the Section of Vascular Surgery and an Assistant Professor of Radiology within the Division of Interventional Radiology. Dr. Rectenwald graduated from the University of Michigan in 1991 with a degree in microbiology and then matriculated to the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia where he earned his M.D. degree in 1996. He then went on to the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida to complete his training in general surgery. During his general surgery residency he spent two years performing basic science research in the field of vascular biology, and subsequently completed his clinical training in 2003. Following completion of his general surgery training, he returned to the University of Michigan to complete a fellowship in Vascular Surgery, and joined the faculty upon completion of his fellowship in July of 2005. Dr. Rectenwald's current research interests are focused on assessment of clinical outcomes in vascular surgical procedures. His clinical interests are centered on endovascular therapies for vascular disease.
