Dr. Lindenauer graduated from Tufts Medical School in 1957. He completed his internship at the U.S. Army Hospital in Fort Benning, Georgia, followed by a residency in General Surgery at the University of Michigan. He was appointed Instructor of Surgery in 1964 and just eight years later rose to the rank of Professor in 1972. He remained active in General Vascular Surgery and in both basic and clinical research until his retirement in 1997. Dr. Lindenauer also served as Associate Dean of the Medical School from 1974 to 1981, and Associate Chief of Clinical Affairs at University Hospital from 1984 to 1988.

Currently as active Emeritus Professor of Surgery, Dr. Lindenauer is a mentor for the residents and medical students training in the ambulatory setting.
