biography

Research Interests:

1. Surgical outcomes in trauma, burn, and general surgery. Utilization of on-site and national clinical databases to evaluate surgical outcomes using advanced statistical methods. Emphasis has been on blunt thoracic aortic injury, trauma quality improvement, and the relationship of process measures to outcomes in critical care.

2. Basic science research into the mechanisms of burn-induced cardiac dysfunction.

3. Clinical and basic science research into the pathophysiology and treatment of bacterial pneumonia.

4. Basic science research investigating burn wound inflammation. Utilization of local topical burn wound therapy to attenuate the systemic inflammation response following thermal injury.
