The annual fall clinical meeting embodies the Society's founding principles to promote the art and science of Surgery, foster education and perpetuate friendships. The program began with a welcome reception on Thursday night followed by clinical and social programs on both Friday and Saturday, with a farewell brunch on Sunday. The attendees had an opportunity to meet and interact with surgical alumni from all over the United States, many of whom are or have been in significant leadership roles in their areas of surgical specialty. The University of Michigan residents, research assistants and medical student were involved in several presentations during the clinical program as well as the poster sessions. Brian Saunders, HO6, was in attendance as this year's Coller Research Fellow. Erika Newman received the Coller Resident Research Award and Christopher Longo the Jobst Award, which are awarded to resident presenters during the annual clinical meeting. The Coller Clinical Tour for residents was established with eight selected each year. The tours allow House Officer trainees of Coller Society members to visit other major medical institutions to gain insight into the clinical and research endeavors of the institution, tour the facilities, and meet surgical faculty and trainees. In 2005, Gorav Ailawadi, Charles Binkley, Steve Chen, Ted Lin and Ted Welling each participated in the Coller Tour program as part of their chief year rotations. |
