BiographySteven C. Haase, M.D. serves as an Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Section of Plastic Surgery at the University of Michigan Medical School. Born and raised in Southeast Michigan, Dr. Haase now lives just outside of Ann Arbor with his wife and 3 young children. Dr. Haase received his M.D. degree from the University of Illinois, and then moved back to Ann Arbor to take up General Surgery Residency training at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. Following this, he finished Plastic Surgery Fellowship training at the University of Michigan. To expand on his interest in hand surgery, he then traveled to Rochester, Minnesota, to complete a Hand Surgery Fellowship at the Mayo Clinic. Dr. Haase is board-certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, Inc. Clinical FocusDr. Haase specializes in hand surgery and reconstructive plastic surgery. As a hand surgeon, he cares for a wide variety of clinical problems, including trauma (fractures, tendon lacerations, nerve injury), nerve compression (carpal tunnel and others), wrist injuries and fractures, job-related injuries or disorders, and arthritis. He has a special interest in skin cancers of the hand, as well as other hand tumors and growths. As a reconstructive surgeon, Dr. Haase is not limited to just the hand, wrist, and forearm. He works closely with the University of Michigan Trauma/Burn Service to assist in the plastic surgery needs of their patients. He has particular interests in leg reconstruction after trauma, chronic wounds, burn reconstruction, scrotal lymphedema, pressure sores, and reconstructive breast surgery. EDUCATION
