Biography

Dr. Alderman received her medical degree with honors from the University Of Alabama, School Of Medicine, Birmingham, Alabama in June, 1996. She is the recipient of the Hugh J. Dempsey Memorial Award (Valedictorian) and the Dean's Award for Academic Excellence (Highest academic performance in the clinical clerkships). Additionally, she received an outstanding academic performance in Internal Medicine, Surgery, Psychiatry, and Emergency Medicine and was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Society. Her postdoctoral training was completed at the University of Michigan and included completion of a residency program in plastic surgery. She acquired a Master's Degree in Public Health from the University of Michigan, School of Public Health in Ann Arbor, Michigan in August, 2001. She is also the recipient of the Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholar from (2000-2002) at the University of Michigan. In July, 2004 she joined the faculty at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI. as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery, Section of Plastic Surgery. She is also an Assistant Professor and Research Investigator at the Ann Arbor Veterans Administration Health Service Research and Development. Dr. Alderman is a practicing plastic surgeon and a health services researcher focusing on breast reconstruction.

CLINICAL FOCUS

Dr. Alderman's clinical focus involves working with women with breast deformities resulting from breast cancer. She offers both implant and autogenous tissue reconstructions, including TRAM and DIEP flap procedures. She also specializes in breast reduction surgery using both the standard wise pattern "anchor" technique along with the vertical reduction that uses a shorter scar. In addition, she performs a wide range of cosmetic surgery, such as breast augmentation, liposuction, abdominoplasty, and facial rejuvenation procedures such as browlifts and facelifts.
