

![]() ResearchThe trauma research program is multidisciplinary and includes pediatric surgery, orthopedics, neurosurgery, plastic surgery, rehabilitation, critical care, and emergency medicine. Dr. Peter Ehrlich, the trauma medical director, is a member of the University of Michigan Injury Research Center and the Pediatric Emergency Care Applied Research Network, a nationally funded research network with a major focus in pediatric trauma. Projects to reduce risk taking behavior, posttraumatic stress and trauma recidivism are planned for the future. A new collaboration between the trauma program and the University of Michigan's Transportation Research Institute will develop an electronic method of monitoring bicycle helmet use in children.
