Safe Kids

In an effort to further injury prevention initiatives, C.S Mott Children's Hospital joined Safe Kids Worldwide and became the lead organization of the Safe Kids Washtenaw County Coalition.

The Safe Kids Worldwide global network includes more than 450 coalitions which share a common mission to prevent accidental childhood injury, a leading killer of children ages 14 and under. Safe Kids brings together health and safety experts, educators, corporations, foundations, governments and volunteers from 16 countries to educate and protect families about unintentional injuries caused by:

  • motor vehicle crashes
  • fires and scald burns
  • pedestrian injuries
  • poisoning and choking
  • bike crashes
  • unintentional shootings
  • falls and drowning

As leader of the Washtenaw County Coalition, Mott Children's Hospital is committed to carrying out grassroots initiatives that support the following Safe Kids Worldwide goals:

  • public education
  • community programming
  • safety product distribution
  • legislation initiatives
  • media outreach
  • local injury data collection
  • local program evaluation
