Shaun M. Kunisaki, MD, MSc is currently an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Michigan. He is also an Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a member of the Fetal Diagnosis and Treatment Center. He earned his bachelor's degree magna cum laude from Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. After completing a master's degree in health policy from the London School of Economics and Political Science and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, he obtained his medical degree cum laude from Harvard Medical School. During medical school, he participated in a predoctoral research fellowship in transplantation immunology. He completed his general surgery residency at the Massachusetts General Hospital, the largest and oldest teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School. Dr. Kunisaki also finished a postdoctoral research fellowship in fetal tissue engineering at Children's Hospital Boston before completing his clinical training in pediatric surgery at the C.S. Mott Children's Hospital. Dr. Kunisaki is board certified in both Surgery and Pediatric Surgery. He has an active clinical practice encompassing all aspects of pediatric surgery but has a focused clinical interest in congenital lung lesions (CCAM, CPAM, sequestrations), esophageal atresia, and other complex thoracic surgical problems.
