C. S. Mott Children's Hospital
Dr. Gish grew up in the beautiful farmland of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. He attended Grove City College in northwestern Pennsylvania, where he graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. in Molecular Biology and a minor in Economics. He then attended medical school at Penn State College of Medicine in Hershey, PA. His general surgical training was at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown, PA, which fostered his interest in pediatric surgery. Following this, he came to University of Michigan for a Surgical Critical Care Fellowship, with an emphasis on care of critically ill pediatric and neonatal patients. He is board certified by the American College of Surgeons in General Surgery, and is board eligible for Surgical Critical Care.
When he is not at the hospital, he enjoys spending time with his beautiful wife, Janelle and their son, Luke. His research interests include NEC, renal failure and clinical outcomes. When rounding in the ICU, he especially enjoys the interactions with pediatric patients and their families.
