Liyu Xing, PhD is a Research Investigator in the Division of Gastrointestinal Surgery in the Section of General Surgery. Dr. Xing received his bachelor degree in July 1989 from the Qingdao Medical College in Qingdao, China. He received his M.S. degree in Internal Medicine in 1995 from the same College. Dr. Xing continued his studies at the Beijing Medical University in Beijing, and received his PhD in July 1998. From Setpember 1998 to January 2000, Dr. Xing was an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Vascular Medicine at the Third Hospital, Beijing Medical University. In February of 2000, Dr. Xing continued on with postdoctoral training at the Unviersity of Michigan Medical School in the Pathology Department, and in February 2006, he joined the faculty as a Research Investigator in the Pathology Department. In September of 2006, Dr. Xing joined the faculty of the Section of General Surgery, Division of Gastrointestinal Surgery. Dr. Xing's research interests are gene expression and regulation of cytokines and chemokines, the regulation of inflammation, neuroimmunology, and the role of inflammation and growth factors, inflammatory cytokines and chemokines in wound healing. Dr. Xing's research focuses on defining the function changes of fibroblast cells and mechanisms that underlie the formation of incisional hernia. Investigation involves precisely recording cell proliferation, secretion of collagen by fibroblast form normal healing and hernia animal models. Intracellular signaling proteins: defining the signal pathway activated by strength load on the fibroblast. |
