Dr. Yan Liu is a Research Assistant Professor in the Division of Immunotherapy, Section of General Surgery. Dr. Liu received a B.S. in Organic Chemistry from the Liaoning Normal University in July of 1984. She received his M.S. in 1989, from Shenyang Pharmaceutical University and in July of 1993, she received a Ph.D. from Dalian Medical University, Department of Biochemistry.

Dr. Liu became a Lecturer in Biochemistry at Dalian Medical University September 1993. Dr. Liu continued on to become an Associate Professor in 1995, and a full Professor in 1997, at the Dalian Medical University. From February 1998 to March of 2001, Dr. Liu did postdoctoral reesearch at the Department of Laboratory and Molecular Medicine at Kagoshima University in Japan. In March of 2001, she joined the research group in the Department of Microbiology, in the College of Biological Sciences at Ohio State University as a postdoctoral researcher, and in January 2002, she continued in the Department of Pathology in the College of Medicine and Public Health, at Ohio State University. In July, 2003, she joined the faculty in the same department as an Adjunct Assistant Professor. In July 2006, Dr. Liu joined the faculty at the University of Michigan Health System in the Division of Immunotherapy.
