Dr. Hayanga was the 2008 Alfred Sommer Scholar in Health Policy at Johns Hopkins University, the 2008 MPH Class President, Johns Hopkins Graduate Student Assembly, the 2008 Health and Human Services Health Policy Fellow and Senior Advisor to the Deputy Secretary Tevi Troy in Washington DC, the 2008 World Health Organization (WHO) Patient Safety Scholar. His research interest is in Health Services Research and Components to access to oncological care and Influences on Disparities. He is the Founder of the RJW Foundation. During the ADT, Dr. Hayanga won 6 national awards (2007 Surgical Infection Society (SIS) (First Prize for paper), 2007 American College of Surgeons (ACS) trauma - Maryland State (First Prize for paper), National Medical Association (NMA) (Drew Walker prize), ACS trauma Region III (First Prize for paper), 2007 ACS Leadership, 2008 American Medical Association (AMA) Leadership.
