biography

Randall S. Sung, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Section of General Surgery, Division of Transplantation Surgery. Dr. Sung graduated with a degree in Biochemical Science from Harvard University in 1985. He received his medical degree and completed his surgical residency at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, in New York City. In 1997, following the completion of his surgical residency, Dr. Sung began a two year fellowship in Transplant Surgery at the University of Michigan Medical Center. He subsequently joined the faculty as an Assistant Professor at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City. In 2002, Dr. Sung returned to the University of Michigan as an Assistant Professor in the Transplant Surgery Division.

Dr. Sung's research efforts focus on immune responses to gene therapy vectors in mouse pancreatic islet transplantation. His clinical interests include pancreas and islet transplantation, kidney transplantation, and liver transplantation.
