

![]() Gastrointestinal SurgeryThe Divison of Gastrointestinal Surgery at the University of Michigan cares for diseases of the stomach, small bowel, large bowel, liver, biliary tree, and pancreas. The surgeons in this Division have expertise in the management of both benign and malignant diseases of these organs. Special expertise in this Division includes experience in the management of liver tumors, pancreatic tumors, and inflammatory bowel disease. In addition, the Division of Gastrointestinal Surgery manages patients with benign biliary disease including laparoscopic cholecystectomy and biliary reconstruction. Research within the Division of Gastrointestinal Surgery includes evaluation of optimal operative methods of caring for gastrointestinal diseases including specialized laparoscopic approaches. In addition, basic science investigation into the development of pancreatic malignancy and inflammatory diseases of the liver and bowel is ongoing. |
