Wendy L. Wahl, MD, is a Professor of Surgery in the Division of Acute Care Surgery. Dr. Wahl received her bachelor's degree from Johns Hopkins University and her medical degree from The State University of New York at Stony Brook School of Medicine. Her postgraduate training in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care were completed at The University of Michigan Health System. Dr. Wahl joined the General Surgery faculty at the University of Michigan in 1994. She has board certification in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care. Dr. Wahl is a general surgeon on the Acute Care Surgery Service. This service cares for a variety of patients, from trauma and burn patients to elective general surgery and laparoscopic surgery patients. Her clinical interests are in the care of the critically injured and complex abdominal problems including hernias and enteric fistulae. Dr. Wahl's research interests include the study of deep venous thrombosis in trauma and burn patients. She has active collaborations with the Department of Radiology studying the advancing diagnostic role of computerized tomography in traumatic injuries and acute abdominal pain. She is a member of many surgical societies, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Wahl remains active in medical student and resident education at the University of Michigan. She is also an instructor of the Advanced Trauma Life Support Course and Medical Director of the Advanced Burn Life Support Course. |
