Dr. Kristen Sihler is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Acute Care Surgery in the Section of General Surgery. She received her bachelor's degree from the University of Virginia and her MD degree from Wake Forest University School of Medicine in Winston Salem, North Carolina. Dr. Sihler did her surgical residency at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. During that time, she was a Clinical Research Scholar in Clinical Investigation under the National Institutes of Health K30 Clinical Research Curriculum Award. She also held the position of Post-doctoral Fellow at the Iowa Injury Prevention Research Center and completed a master of science in epidemiology. After finishing her surgical residency, Dr. Sihler went on to do a fellowship in Trauma and Surgical Critical Care at Harborview Medical Center, Seattle, Washington. She joined the faculty at the University of Michigan Health Systems in the Division of Acute Care Surgery in 2006. Dr. Sihler's clinical interests are trauma and critical care, as well as non-trauma emergency general surgery. Her research interests include rural trauma, trauma systems, and anemia and transfusions in critically ill patients. |
